Investigation Intern

working from our office in Waterloo, Ontario.
Reporting to the President, the successful candidate will be required to support investigators by carrying out the following responsibilities:

•    consult with clients and with senior staff of the organization
•    participate in the creation of investigation plans for cases, as appropriate
•    correspond with clients and others to request information
•    Attend interviews with complainants, respondents and witnesses, and take detailed notes
•    participate in the generating of reports
•    take direction from legal counsel where necessary
•    testify at hearings or in Court occasionally
•    travel within the Province of Ontario.

You’ll know you’re a qualified candidate for this role if you have completed post secondary education (College diploma or University degree, or equivalent) and have 2 – 3 years of investigation experience. Your investigation experience may be directly related to our work, or it may be in Human Resources, or perhaps in insurance claims. You must be eligible to become licensed as a Private Investigator in the Province of Ontario. If you meet these three criteria, then read on!

Have you experienced opportunities to be flexible and adapt to new and different approaches to investigating as well as to changing priorities? Do you thrive on being organized, thorough and able to meet deadlines? Are you able to speak, read and write in another language (we’d be thrilled if you were also fluent in Cantonese or Mandarin, but that’s not a requirement)? The successful candidate will actively participate in both on-the-job training and a formal training program in private investigation which the firm will fund. As the successful candidate, you will be expected, within six months of commencing employment to successfully pass the Private Investigator’s test and become a licensed Private Investigator in the Province of Ontario.
