Effective Investigation Processes – A Matter of Communication

May 12, 2022
10:00 AM to 11:30 AM EDT

This is a free webinar being provided for the Regulatory Community.

The process of investigations and inspections has often been referred to by participants as a process that happens “to” them rather than “with” them. One of the key reasons for this is ineffective, absent, and even inappropriate communications. Regulators need to balance the need to get investigations and inspections done accurately and expediently, while ensuring the needs of the participants are met and they are satisfied the process is fair and transparent. Practices that allow communication to create a psychologically safe place for participants is critical. This 90 minute workshop will examine all stages of the process, from intake to report completion, with a lens on maximizing effectiveness. We will discuss such topics as:

– Communication strategies
– De-escalation techniques
– Managing the needs of complainants
– Maximizing engagement
– Trauma informed practices
– Optimizing inclusion of all parties
– Documenting the case appropriately
– Language in reports and correspondence
